Halloween, a holiday that many enjoy for one reason or another. For some, it was a time to get free candy and treats. For others, it was an excuse to have parties and hang out late with friends and family. And then for others, the REAL draw of the season was obvious; costumes.

Yes, everyone loved dressing up on the holiday. From characters to their favorite series, to regular old witches and ghosts, and of course to their favorite Pokemon, Halloween in the world of Pokemon was a sight to behold no matter where in the world.

And in the region of Kanto, in the midst of Cerulean City, home to the Water-type Gym of the Pokemon League, it was no different.

And it was because of this that Ash Ketchum, Pokemon trainer and master in the making, was currently in the Cerulean City Gym along with the gym’s very own (newly christened) leader, Misty.

But unlike many gym visits before in Ash’s career, this was not for a badge (one that he had in fact already obtained), but for one of those fabled Halloween parties. One party which Misty invited him to!

“So cool that we found that costume shop before things got too busy, huh Misty?” Ash grinned towards his friend and old companion, excitement clear on his face.

“Yeah!” Misty agreed. She didn’t show it of course, but she was definitely just as excited to go to this party as Ash was, if not more so. She pulled out the brown, fullbody costume she had chosen, feeling the realistically soft and fluffy fur as she turned to Ash. “What did you get?”

“Some Pokemon called ‘Greninja’. It’s apparently from a region called ‘Kalos’. I thought it looked cool!” he said proudly as he also pulled out his suit, holding the now empty box up to Misty so she could see the blue, frog-like Pokemon, with some kind of scarf around its neck.

Misty rolled her eyes. She was a bit surprised, sure that Ash would get a costume of a Pokemon he actually HAD instead of whatever first caught his eye. Then again, it was Ash. He wasn’t particularly the person she expected to be ‘thoughtful’, so to speak.

“So what did you get?” Ash asked the gym leader, peeping at the odd brown and cream suit in her hands. It seemed to have incredibly large ears, almost the size of its body!

“If you MUST know, I got a Lopunny costume, to highlight my cute, girlish charm.” Misty smirked, holding the suit close and striking a small pose.

“Pfft...” Ash snickered to himself, looking the suit over. “Still think you should have gone with that one Psyduck costume I found.” he joked.

“Sh-shut up! Let’s just get dressed. The party’s starting soon and I want to arrive on time and in costume!”

“Yeah yeah...” Ash responded. The boy dressed down to his basic shirt and took off his sneakers, setting them aside along with his hat. They’d be leaving the extra clothes in the locked up gym while they went to the party, and it helped not to wear too much stuff underneath these types of costumes.

He took this time to feel the costume a little. It had a rubbery, slippery texture, a bit cold to the touch. The full-body suit seemed tough and as far he could tell was a decent quality, and certainly LOOKED like the Pokemon on the box. How he’d look wearing it however was the real challenge.

The suit opened up at the back, a thin zipper that went from underneath the Greninja’s scarf to the base of its spiky tail. His hands travelled over the fold- it seemed the suit was designed so the ‘skin’ would cover up the zipper line when fully closed. Said skin gave out when the zipper was pulled open. A neat feature, and definitely made it more authentic!

With that he slipped his feet into the suits legs. The inside of the suit felt very cold, especially on his bare skin. It was a chilly, wet texture that rubbed against his body as he tugged and made sure his legs would go as far as they could. To his annoyance, his feet didn’t seem to make it quite far enough to reach the Greninja’s own. The boy found himself tugging on the legs and hiking them up a bit so his feet would reach.

With that out of the way he then slipped himself further into the suit. It took a bit of effort to get his arms into the appropriate sockets but after that it was simple work as the costume seemed to naturally bend and wrap itself around his back with no further tugging needed. Like his legs, the arms were a bit too long, and he ended up having to pull them closer so his hands would fit into the hands of the costume. Finally he slipped the head on, feeling the cold rubber give to allow him entrance as it clung to his skin and pressed his hair down under the suit. With that out of the way he turned just in time to see Misty’s head sticking out of the shoulders of her odd bunny costume.

“Hmmm, it’s a bit loose.” Misty muttered as she tugged at the brown fur of her costume. The entire set seemed to sag a little. Indeed, as opposed to looking like the Pokemon she was supposed to be, she looked more like... well, someone wearing a costume a bit too large for them.

“Maybe you’re just not big enough to wear it yet.” Ash joked as he adjusted the Greninja’s head. It was hard to see out of the costume, the eyes a little too far apart, not to mention the tinted plastic over the holes. Regardless, Ash tugged on the blue arms a little to make sure his hands were properly inside the ‘gloves’. Obviously, Greninja’s fingers were a lot larger and oddly shaped than the boy’s own, so it was trickier to work with them.

“Shut up!” Misty glared at the young trainer before slipping her head into the Lopunny’s mask. She took a moment to adjust the mask over her face before reaching back. “Mmg... Ash, help me with my zipper.”

The boy went over to his friend, nearly tripping on the very strangely shaped feet of his costume. It took a while but he finally managed to grab the small zipper and began to tug it upwards. Size problems aside, it was impressive how hidden the actual seams and zipper were on the costume. The only way to tell it was actually a costume (aside from the sagging, unfitted body parts) was if you looked very very carefully and found the hidden line on the Lopunny’s back, or the small tab on her neck. “There. Could you do mine? It’s hard enough grabbing things I can SEE with these hands.” the boy flailed the froggy digits uselessly to emphasize his point.

He could feel Misty rolling her eyes under the Lopunny’s own black and red ones. He didn’t really feel much, although he did hear the tiny ‘vwiiip’ of the zipper going up. “Okay, there.”

Ash turned to Misty, looking her over. Honestly, it looked a bit silly. “Heh... I guess we should have checked the sizes on these things before getting them, huh?” he conceded, tugging on the large growth that was supposed to be the ‘tongue’ of his costume. It felt cold.

The gym leader crossed her arms, “Yeah, you think!? Ugh, I don’t think we can wear these...” she complained. The costume was just too loose on her body. She could only imagine how stupid she looked. Ash on the other hand looked ridiculous, though evidently he was having more fun with it. ‘Boys.’ she thought to herself, adjusting the costume’s head. Thankfully the ears weren’t nearly as heavy as she thought they’d be.

And then she noticed something. Something was off. She blinked, looking around. Weird. What was...?

The girl shook her head, causing the ears to sway a little. She rubbed her eyes, momentarily forgetting that she couldn’t actually reach them due to the mask... and then she realized that she could feel her hands touching her face- not through the mask, but as if they were touching bare skin... and with that realization, she also noticed that she was no longer looking through the tinted eyeholes of a mask. “H-huh!? Ash!!” she exclaimed, noticing her voice wasn’t nearly as muffled as before. It, however, did sound off. Lighter in tone, somehow.

“Yeah?” the boy turned to the Lopunny-suited Misty, seeing nothing wrong. However, Misty instantly realized that something was very wrong with the boy.

His, no, the Greninja’s eyes were blinking.

They were BLINKING. And clearly far more expressive than they had any right to be!

“Whoa... how are you moving its mouth like that, Misty?” the Greninja spoke in Ash’s voice, baggy hands feeling its tongue and tugging at its nose a little, as if trying to get the mouth to move. The boy winced, however, as it felt like he was tugging on his actual nose. “Ouch... huh?” Ash blinked his froggy eyes, patting his blue, pointed snout. He felt each pat realistically, oddly... and then he noticed his hand.

It looked far less baggy, the fingers no longer hanging limply. In fact, they responded well to each subtle command he mentally ordered. All except the two fingers that he couldn’t see-no, couldn’t FEEL anymore. “What the?” the boy asked in astonishment as he flexed his three webbed fingers, before an odd ‘sucking’ in his chest brought his attention downwards.

He watched in awe as the baggier sections of the costumed seemed to be flattening out. The boy wrapped his lengthening and squishing arms around his torso in mild discomfort as his entire body seemed to be squeezed by the suit. It was especially strange, however, that he couldn’t feel his actual body underneath the costume anymore-- no, it felt like he was touching bare, oddly wet and slimy skin.

Misty noted Ash’s troubles, but before she could assist her friend she was very quickly reminded that she was in the same predicament at the moment. The girl stumbled as an odd tightness went through her legs, causing her to drop to her knees and hands. She looked downwards, seeing the arms of her suit rippling oddly before settling, losing their looseness, as if they were clinging to her body... except she knew it wasn’t the case. She could feel the alien sensation of a breeze brushing the soft coat of fur on her arms.

The gym leader bit her lip before turning and looking downwards at her legs to see the damage there. She saw, in both fear and amazement, her feet shifting, pointing increasingly downwards and becoming even daintier than they already were. It was odd, however, in that she expected pain from what was clearly her feet being crushed to fit the mold of a Lopunny’s own tip-toe-like stance, and didn’t receive any. The worst was a bit of a ‘pinching’ feeling. A pinch that travelled up both her legs, causing the limbs to shrink closer to her body and fatten up, giving her rounder thighs.

On the bright side, Misty’s changes were far less extreme in comparison to Ash’s own. The boy could only feel and watch his stomach pitch inward as his whole torso seemed to be aiming for more of an ‘upside down triangle’ shape, his entire waist and hips shrinking downwards.

“What’s goin awwh...!?” the boy asked before noticing the odd numbness in his mouth. For a moment he couldn’t feel anything, but then the boy gagged a little as his three-digited hands rushed upwards. It felt like his tongue was being pulled out, and it was probably the strangest feeling he had felt so far throughout this entire ordeal as it seemed his tongue was giving. Rather, however, it wasn’t that his tongue was being pulled, but seemed to be growing, merging more and more with the stretchy pink Greninja tongue that was originally part of the costume. Ash only shivered as more and more feeling came from his tongue, the organ becoming far larger and more sensitive than he could imagine. He practically tasted the air, the boy drooling from his new mouth a little to wet his new tongue as feeling finally came back to the entire thing, from his wide open maw to the very tip. “Eugh...” he shuddered, before giving an oddly raspy yelp as his legs buckled underneath him, causing the boy to fall flat on his face.

His legs meanwhile shifted. Feet becoming flatter limbs as toes and mass disappeared into two suction cup like digits attached by a yellow-ish web, his heel stretching out into a point. The rest of his lower legs thinned extremely, becoming two sticks as all the muscle and fat seemed to be moving upwards, until his thighs were much larger, and seemed to almost comically be coming out from his smaller lower body.

A few feet away, Misty’s own changes were coming to a finish. Her body seemed to have shrunken considerably, to the point where she seemed noticeably SHORTER than Ash (a thought which frightened her greatly). In a mirror to the now Greninja’s changes, her bottom seemed to be much wider than her chest, to the point where it was perhaps a little hard to tell where the girl’s neck began and torso ended. Misty also noted the strange alien feeling on her tailbone, that limp ball of brown fluff that was the costume’s tail having merged to her body, becoming her own as it gave a small, expressive waggle in its’ newfound life.

Finally, a shudder travelled over the girl’s head as her hearing seemed to mute before coming back in full force a split second later. It was a disorienting feeling as the light, artificial ears on her head seemed to become much heavier all of a sudden. Although it made sense, since they were most assuredly now real, as the girl tugged on the two appendages sticking from her cranium with a whimper.

Ash rose his head from the gym floor to see a hysterical Lopunny. Said Lopunny was, from what he could see in his oddly sharper vision, attempting to pull her own ears off. It of course looked quite painful. “Ugh.” the Greninja rubbed his pointed snout, before his eyes caught the sight of his three-digited, webbed hands. “Wh-whoa!” the frog pokemon exclaimed, sitting on his blue behind as he got a good look at himself.

His proportions were all off. His waist was small and his legs shorter. It was definitely him, this body-- he could feel all of it. The weight on his tail from the sitting position, his toes and fingers, which were definitely a few digits short each. The tips felt odd, they were flat yet strong, solid. A bit sticky, too.

Of course, the biggest new feeling was his tongue. It was odd just having it out like that, and even odder having it wrapped around his neck like some kind of scarf. This of course had the effect of making it so he couldn’t shut his mouth, and there was an odd stickiness to the pink appendage. He noticed that he could control his tongue as well, which at the moment was certainly a blessing, as he definitely didn’t want his tongue brushing the floor. “Wow... this is cool!” the boy finally said after a moment of looking over his new body. Offhandedly, he noted that it was surprisingly easy to talk even with his huge tongue completely in the way. Perhaps a bit difficult to get some letters out, not to mention his voice was a bit raspier than he was used to, but nothing too bad.

“Cool!? Are you serious, Ash!?” a feminine, grating voice exclaimed in clear annoyance. It was obvious who was talking to him. The Greninja turned to Misty, the brown bunny Pokemon’s cute round face twisted into a pained frown, although her large. fluffy, cream-colored eyebrows pointing downwards didn’t really do much to up her intimidation. “Look at us!” the normal-type whined, tiny digits going to her brown cheeks in distress as she stood up. Her large ears bobbed a little from the movement, and it was clear she was having a bit of trouble standing on her feet (or was she standing on her toes? Ash couldn’t really tell with the creamy fur covering them up)

Ash took this moment to get up as well. It was hard figuring it out-- his feet were... weirdly shaped. He found himself mimicking the posture of the Greninja that was on the box; a crouched down position where he could lean on his hands for a bit more support. It seemed to work better for now, and if felt oddly right at the moment. “Come on, Misty! We’re Pokemon! That IS pretty awesome!” the Greninja smiled under his tongue-scarf. He felt light, not to mention strong. “This kinda thing doesn’t happen every day!”

“I think you’re ignoring the issue, Ash!” Misty frowned, her beastly eyes tearing a little as delicate fingers tugged on bits of fur. “Did you think about how we’re going to, you know, CHANGE BACK!? I can’t run a gym as a Lopunny!” the normal-type glared at him, taking steps towards the Greninja. She seemed to be getting used to walking with her new balance/gravity.

“Hmm... well, I guess that’s a problem.” Ash quieted a little, a webbed finger going to where his chin might have been in thought.

“AND you can’t be a Pokemon Master when you’re a pokemon yourself!” Misty added.

“Okay okay, I get it!” Ash waved his hands in defeat. The Lopunny gave an annoyed huff, crossing her fluffy, thing brown arms over her chest and turning away from the Greninja, the Cerulean City gym leader evidently deep in thought.

And that’s when Ash noticed it- a little grey piece of metal sticking out from the back of the Lopunny’s neck. The Greninja blinked, reaching at his own back and feeling around. Yep, he had it too- the zipper was still there. “Hey, Misty! We still have our zippers!”

“Huh...?” the cute bunny Pokemon felt at her neck, feeling the handle. “Oh, I guess so. And?”

“And it means we can take off the costumes, obviously!” the Greninja smiled proudly, excitement clear in the frog-pokemon’s face. “Which means we can change back whenever!”

Misty blinked, before a hand shot to her mouth. “Oh! I hadn’t thought of just taking the costumes off!”

“Yep! So that means we can have fun with this after all!” Ash smirked, taking the Lopunny’s hand and tugging her to the door.

“Wait, Ash! Where are you-WE going!?”

“To go to that party! I bet we’ll have the coolest costumes now, for sure!” the Greninja exclaimed.

“A-Ash, don’t be- we can’t just walk around like this!” the Lopunny complained, stumbling after the water/dark-type.

“Of course we can, Misty!” the Greninja laughed, “It’s Halloween!”
